Il volume - qui nella versione tedesca, ma disponibile anche in quella italiana - fornisce al visitatore una guida intelligente sulla storia e sul patrimonio artistico legati al Duomo di Venzone. Il lettore viene portato per mano alla scoperta degli affreschi, della simbologia, delle forme romanico-gotiche della chiesa. L'intento non è semplicemente dare aride informazioni, ma far percepire la grandezza dell'opera, l'importanza che il Duomo ha per i venzonesi. Inaugurato nel 1338, il Duomo di Sant'Andrea era il simbolo del prestigio di Venzone, città doganale e passaggio obbligatorio per le merci e i popoli che transitavano lungo l'antica via Julia Augusta. Il terremoto del 1976 ha compromesso questo patrimonio e tutto quello che esso rappresentava: attuare una ricostruzione "rispettosa della memoria" era un modo per recuperare anche la propria identità e la propria storia. Questa guida, fa della completezza e della brevità i suoi punti di forza, riuscendo comunque a trasmettere la dignità, la fiducia e la dedizione che hanno portato alla rinascita di questo monumento, testimonianza della storia di un intero paese.

VENZONE - DER DOM
Der auf italienisch erschienene Band - hier in der deutschen Fassung vorliegend - gibt dem Besucher einen klugen Führer durch die Geschichte und die Künstschätze des Doms von Venzone an die Hand. Dieser Führer begleitet den Leser auf seinem Rundgang durch den romanisch-gotischen Dom mit kunsthistorischen Erläuterungen zu den Fresken, die viele symbolische Hintergründe haben. Das Ziel dieses Werkes ist nicht nur Fakten zu geben, sondern die Einzigartigkeit des Bauwerkes spürbar zu machen, und die Bedeutung, die der Dom für die Bewohner Venzones hat, zu vermitteln. Nach der Fertigstellung im Jahr 1338, war der Dom von St. Andrea das Symbol für das Ansehen Venzones. An der antiken Via Julia Augusta war die Stadt Venzone Zollstation für Waren und Personverkehr. Das Erdbeben von 1976 hat dieses kulturelle Erbe und seine Bedeutung gefährdet: in einem der Vergangenheit verantwortungsvoll verpflichteten Wiederaufbau lag die Chance, sich die Identität und Geschichte zu vergegenwärtigen.

VENZONE: THE DUOMO
The volume - here presented in the German version, but also available in Italian - offers visitors an intelligent guide to the history and artistic patrimony of the Duomo of Venzone. The reader is guided through the frescoes, symbols and romanic-gothic forms of the cathedral. The intent is not that of merely providing information, but also of highlighting the cathedral's grandeur and the importance it has for the people of Venzone. Inaugurated in 1338, the Duomo of St. Andrew was the symbol of the prestige Venzone had as a customs town and obligatory passageway for goods and peoples that travelled along the ancient Via Julia Augusta. The 1976 earthquake compromised this patrimony and all that it represented: to rebuild it in a manner that was 'respectful of memory' was for the people of the town a way to retrieve their identity and history. This guide, which is successfully complete and short, manages to convey the dignity, trust and dedication that brought to the rebirth of this monument, which bears witness to the history of an entire town.
